Prof. Dr. Mandira Shahi
Medical Educationist (BN, MHPE, M.Phil & PhD)
Prof. Dr. Mandira Shahi, former Executive Director of National Centre for Health Professions Education (NCHPE), Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj, is a Professor of Nursing and Medical Educationist. Since 17th February, 1998 to 11th May 2020, she worked in Medical Education Department (MED), TU, IOM which was officially upgraded to NCHPE in 2009. She did Master in Health Professions Education (MHPE) from Maastricht University, Netherlands in 2001 and M. Phil in Education from The Global Open University Nagaland, India on 2010. She earned PhD degree in Education from Singhania University, Rajasthan, India on 25 January 2021.
She has a professional academic experience of service, research and teaching for various level of health professions education and over 39 years of experience in medical education such as; curriculum development, revision, research, training, resource person, consulting, policymaking, academic and development sectors with roles progressively faculty development training.
She served as Executive Member of the Association of British Alumni in Nepal in 2010 and again from 2018 to till now. She was the Coordinator of Faculty Development Training and Clinical Elective Program for Foreign Medical/Nursing students in NCHPE, TU, IOM since 2005 to 2020. She became President and Secretary of the Nepal Teachers' Association, Faculty Member of Bidhya Parisad from 2018 to 2020, Member Secretary of Curriculum Development and Evaluation Committee in 2017, Member of Academic Council of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Jumla, in 2017, Member of Management Committee of NCHPE, TU, IOM in 2011, Member Secretary of Global Health course in 2017, Chairperson of Subject Committee of Nursing Education Management and Research in 2010, Treasure of Association of Health Professions Education of Nepal in 2015 and President of Himalayan Association Against STI-AIDS (HASTI-NEPAL) since 2015 to till today. She published more than 20 research articles in medical education and other subject.
She had participated in national and international training program such as; Teaching Primary Health Care course from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, Liverpool, U.K. in April-July, 1993, WHO Regional Training Programme on Innovations in Health Personnel Education, TU, IOM, Nepal in 1997, Challenges to Sustainable Health Development in Urban Areas in Asia conducted by National University of Singapore, University of Oslo in 2003, International Training of Trainers on Essentials Newborn Care at the ICMH, Matuail, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2006, Global Health Update: Non-Governmental Organizations, Climate Change and Child Health organized by The Finnish Medical Society Duodecim and University of Tampere, Helsinki, Finland in 2012, 9th Global Health Course Organized by School of Medicine, University of Tampere, Finland on 3rd June to 5th July, 2013 (5 week). She moderated 2nd International Conference on Diabetes and Diabetic Nurse Education Care and Practice in 2018 in Montreal, Canada. She visited 20 countries for short and long training, education and paper presentation.
